Has anyone used wordless books to help students retell a story? I have found them to be very helpful and engaging for the students. I have had my students to write out the story or verbally retell it. I have used the books Found and The Umbrella to help teach retelling.

No, but I have used wordless videos.

Not a book, but similar in idea. I use numberless word problems to help increase comprehension and sense making for students solving word problems. One of my favorite sites is Numberless Word Problems.

Yes! I use wordless books also in intervention groups for storytelling.

Yes, and I have also used art, particularly, paintings. Lots of stories can be told about a scene in a painting.

I have and I love hearing what they come up with! I’ve also covered words in books and had them make up the story based on the pictures!
